Open Top Jet Burner
This picture features our popular stove, the Open Top Jet Burner. Simply poor in your fuel (about 30ml), light and within 30 seconds you should be cooking away. Unlike many similar stoves, our stoves contain an internal wick that helps the Meths draw up the inner walls and vapourise within seconds of lighting, removing the need for messy pre-heating, and increasing safety as more fuel will be retained in the stove should it be knocked over. Simply add a pot stand and windshield...
This picture shows the typical flame pattern from these wonderful little stoves (Meths flames are difficult to see in daylight, so I have added salt to the fuel which produces an orange, more visible, flame). Similar stoves often have a much wider flame pattern which is more likely to lick around the edge of your pan, therefore not heating efficiently. Our stove produces a flame from both the centre and the upper outer edges, which heats more evenly over the bottom of a pan. Open Top Side BurnerFor those of you wanting a simpler solution, we offer our Side Burner.
The side burner is also your pot stand! This little stove has the same wicking features as our Top Burner above, but is capable of supporting your chosen pot above it's slightly wider flame pattern, as below. As with all similar alcohol stoves, a windshield will still be required.
PerformanceEach of our stoves have roughly similar performance. Each will boil 500ml of water in around 5 mins 30 secs, and using about 20ml of Meths, in typical UK conditions when used in conjunction with a windshield. Many factors can vary the cooking time, from air temperature to the type of metal that your pot / pan is made from, therefore performance may vary. This is true of all alcohol stoves. Using a larger quantity of fuel will allow you to bring water to the boil and then continue boiling for between 5 and 10 minutes. Our stoves are available in Aluminium for an ultra light option, or Stainless Steel for a sturdier feel. Aluminium stoves weigh approximately 12g and Stainless Steel approximately 24g.
